Are you planning a trip to Porto? We’ve got some advice on how to get the best prices!
Planning a trip can be really exhaustive, but turns out to be worth it. If you’re planning to visit Porto for the first time, there’s plenty of things that you need to know in order to make the most out of it.
The truth is Porto is beautiful anytime (really!) and there are activities for all tastes. If you like the winter, don’t forget to visit Porto at Christmas time and be enchanted by the giant Christmas tree right in the middle of Avenida dos Aliados. In contrast, if you’re a sun lover, Porto’s beaches have a lot to give.
Besides summer months, the most wanted times for tourists are Christmas and Easter, that’s why they’re a bit more expensive than the usual.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
We have gathered a few examples of flights from some Europe countries to Porto, and the results were very conclusive: the best time to fly to Porto is, undoubtedly, the time between March and June. The good news is that Spring in Porto has many sunny days and, in June, you can see the best festivity in town: São João!
July and August are the most complicated months but, even so, roundtrip flights don’t exceed 150€. From September to the end of the year, prices go back to normal and you can enjoy the cold winter and Christmas lights.
Where I can find the best deals?
To help you find the best deals, we tried an experiment with the websites of the main travel agencies that fly to Portugal and compared them with Skyscanner. At this time, everyone knows Skyscanner, if you don’t, you’re missing out.
Skyscanner is one of the best travel sites and the one that offers the best deals. You just write the country where you’re flying from, your destination and it gives you plenty of flights, listed by price and time.
In our research, we searched for the cheapest trip to Porto: from Paris, on March 18th, and the return trip on March 21st. 4 days are enough for you to have a hint of how lovely Porto is.
Skyscanner vs. Airline’s Websites
On Vueling website, Spanish airline, the flight would cost 110€, while on Easyjet, it would fall to 73€. However, not pleased, we searched for the flight on TAP, Portuguese airline, where the price would increase to 80€. How we all know, Ryanair is usually the best where it comes to low-cost flights, so we saved it for the end and weren’t disappointed: 30€ for the roundtrip ticket. Perfect, right? In the end, we searched for the same flight on Skyscanner, and it quickly showed us the same 30€ proposed by Ryanair.
Skyscanner is going to save you much time that you can spend planning the itinerary for Porto. With plenty to see, is really important to have extra time!
