Christmas arrives to Porto this Saturday (November 30th). This year the city has a total of 80 lighted avenues, streets, squares and gardens, which promise to brighten those who pass by.
The big event is at General Humberto Delgado Square, where the Giant Christmas Tree will open around 6 pm. But events don’t stop there! There will also be 3 Christmas markets where you can enjoy some Christmas shopping.
Mercado da Alegria – In this market you will find lights, decked trees, animation, music and workshops, as well as exhibitors with handcrafts, jewelry, handcrafted toys, clothing and food.
Thursday and Sunday – 10am to 8pm
Fridays and Saturdays – 10am to 11pm
Mercado de artesanato, Artes e Ofícios do Porto – Here are pieces of Portuguese handcrafts such as: wood, wool, ceramics, linen, games and traditional drinks.

Friday and Saturday – 11am to 11pm
Feirinha de Natal solidária da Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro – Núcleo Regional do Norte – This market is special, sells Christmas decorations, furniture, women’s clothing, men and children, toys, shoes, textiles, books, antiques and supermarket. All these products are brand new, donated by companies or factories, and are sold at a low price to raise money for the Portuguese Cancer League.
Another attraction that will open on November 30th is the ice rink. It opens on November 30th at 10am (in D. João I Square), while the Boavista Ice Rink opens at 11am, both with free access until 1pm on 30th.
From this date, prices range from 3.5 € (for 20mnts) and € 6 for one hour.
The ice rink at Rotunda da Boavista is housed in Square of fantasy, a space with ice ramp, carousels, car tracks, magic train, simulators, traditional games, a mini wheel and of course, Santa’s House!
Ainda neste dia, haverá performances, concertos, coros e outras surpresas! E, a partir das 16h30, reúnem-se quatro artistas nacionais para celebrar o Natal: Agir, Ana Bacalhau, Irma e Matay. Irão cantar, não só temas próprios, como também as canções de Natal mais populares.
